Marin County plans to hold an election later this year to decide how to spend half of the $5 million it has committed to spending on racial equity projects in 2022.

“I’m excited to present this to your board to get the county involved in this kind of community building and putting trust in the hands of our community members,” Assistant County Administrator Angela Nicholson told supervisors on Tuesday.

The $5 million that the county has earmarked for racial equity projects in 2022 will come from the $50.2 million the county expects to receive through President Joe Biden’s $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan Act.
