High school students from the eight schools that make up Southwest Conference participated in a summit March 14 with the goal of designing a culture in their buildings that breeds inclusion and equity while creating a positive school environment that is respectful of all cultures.

The “With Heart Youth Summit” at Lorain County Community College was designed by James Knight.

A  2001 Oberlin College graduate with a master’s and a doctorate in education from Ashland University, Knight is vice president for Equity and Inclusion at St. Edward High School.

High school students from Amherst, Avon, Avon Lake, Berea-Midpark, Elyria, Midview, North Ridgeville and Olmsted Falls participated in the event.
