For Tremaine Mitchell, founding the Youth Action Project 15 years ago was a “passion project” with the goal of really listening to young people and understanding their needs.
“It was a time when young people felt that programs were developed for them without anyone speaking to them,” the 44-year-old Moreno Valley resident said. “And to this day, that remains our guiding principle.”
Mitchell remains at the helm as the executive director of the organization, which offers a variety of youth programs in San Bernardino and Riverside counties for underserved youth — from after-school help and career counseling to college planning and pathways to employment.
