After more than two years of debate and tumult, the San Francisco school board Wednesday evening will revisit and possibly overturn two controversial decisions regarding Lowell High School’s merit-based admission and the covering of the George Washington Mural.

The votes could mean a complete reset on the two issues, reverting back to the previous status quo before the pandemic hit.

The board will first consider whether to extend a lottery-based admission process at Lowell for another year or go back to the original merit system that selected students largely based on test scores and grades.
